It is fantastic to see an increase in the number of women taking up roles in the engineering sector.
The Labour Force Survey (LFS) has produced a paper, exploring the trend in more detail, focusing on the type of engineering roles and industries that have seen most progress, in terms of gender balance…as well as those that have seen the least.
Since 2010, there has been a 16.5% increase in the number of women securing engineering roles. This represents an increase from 562,000 in 2010 to 936,000 in 2021, a rise coinciding with overall expansion of the engineering workforce.
